So here is the winch, it is a tight fit.

    Fully installed

And this is my install of Drivesafe's new USI-160. It is set up to start of the original battery, link them together for winching and run all accessories of the auxiliary battery

And while I was in the mood, I finally got around to installing those LED flood lights that we got in the group buy a while back.

Hope you like the new setup

Nicely done Craig. How did you wire up the winch to draw power of both batteries? I can have an educated guess. Just interested, because I’ll be wiring up my duel battery system myself next time home.

The USI-160 isolator has a switchable winch mode used to join the batteries.

    Nera Donna,

As Kev said, the USI-160 has a winch mode that hooks the two batteries together through a 160A solenoid.

    See here for more details.

Tim was great! I was able to have a good chat and decide what was the best install, he gave me sound advice on the size of cable to run and all the heavy duty stuff arrived with lugs already soldered on.

Here is the kit after I had unpacked it.

Tim makes the kits up to suit, so if you want some extra wire to run to the winch or to an Anderson plug to charge up the trailer, then he can make it up for you...

As many have said before he is a legend and very willing to help.

    Great information, thanks heaps Craig.
I installed my TJM OX 9,500lb winch last time I was home. Ran out of cable length so I connected the positive lead of the winch to the starter motor terminal. No isolation or fusible point on the power supply cable! Was not entirely happy with this arrangement, but I plan ran out of time and had to head back to work.
The dual battery system I have is from my previous vehicle. Piranha 180. I’m almost 100% positive that it does not have the ability to use both batteries while winching.
Looks like I’ll have to revisit my auxiliary electrical set up and make some alterations.
No problems, it’s all part of the fun.
    Thanks for the good oil.
    Cheers
Craig (No pun intended, that is my name)

Could I please clarify...the store is not called supercrap...I was on the same understanding as you however until I was buying something from there the other day and we asked the checkout chick about something and she goes "this is the generic supers### brand" and we just rolled out the door in tear laughing so hard. Straight from the horses mouth its supers$$t not supercrap and its really got quite a smooth ring to it, rolls off the tongue nicely.
