Just got back Friday night from a trip to the Gold Coast to visit wifies sister. Towed a Off Road - Coromal van weighing in at 2t. PUMA went really well, sat on 100k’s most of the way no problem at all. Travelled about 850k’s one way and returned 14.8L per 100k’s. Trip home returned 16.4L per 100k’s – close enough to 15.5L/100k’s overall. Better fuel consumption figures could have been achieved at around 90k’s, but oh well…. The Defender wave struggled with way less than ½ returning the greeting. The long range tank came into its own, filled up at home and then once at Broad Beach.
To give you an idea at how much better the consumption is at an average speed of 88km/h I towed our off road caravan this past week down to Mozambique coast and back (approx 2200kms). I achieved a total fuel consumption figure of 11.1ltrs per 100 kms.
The off road caravan weights about 1.5 tons (hopefully if I figure out how there is a picture below) and I had kayaks on the roof rack.
