Ian, I fully expect the later incarnation (2003 on)of the Td5 to see AT LEAST 500,000km before it needs any major attention. maybe timing chain and guides etc at about 350K and not overheated and oil changed regularly there would be little need to ever remove the head IMO. Make certain the oil pump drive sprocket retaining bolt is checked, and keep the coolant level present and correct also.
They are a very robust engine.
