    How many k's?

I am planning to upgrade to a Defender either 200Tdi or 300Tdi and wondering how many kms I should expect from these engines before they need a rebuild. I realise this can be a bit subjective but anyones experience would be valuable.
    Thanks

mine is at 320k, just replaced the head gasket, oother than that i have been replacing the timing belt every 80k....oh and oil every 5k

i have noticed a few threads/posts that indicate the big ends should be inspected/replaced around these k's, i am considering doing this sometime this year

I vaguely remember seeing someone on the forum mention a 300Tdi with over 500 000km without a rebuild and still going strong. Like you say, it depends on a lot of things like servicing, driving easy when warming up, etc, etc.

I have one 300Tdi that I've owned for 10 years with 180 000km that hasn't missed a beat, and another with 308 000 of someone else's kilometers that had a bottom end rebuild and new head at 220 000km, but I think that was because a conrod let go.
