Trans tunnel and Seat box Removal

    Hey Guys,

I have a '93 110 with just a little rust that I'm trying to clean up on the doors and door seals (enough for it to come no where near passing a pink slip).

I'm in the process of cutting the rust out of the doors, but I'm yet to start on the door seals. I'd like to remove the trans tunnel and seat box assy to help free up some room to cut, weld, putty, paint and polish. Has anyone done this? Is it as simple as drilling the rivets out and removing the screws? Or are there some tips and tricks I should be aware of?

    Cheers,
    Alex

Could you explain a little more?

My door seals are rubber so they haven't rusted (yet anyway), and why do you want to remove the tunnel and the seat box?

First you pull up all the floor mats and any insulation you may have installed - then pressure wash the foot wells.

Now you will see the footwell floor pan. Its held in by a number of large (no.3) phillips head screws. undo these and the floor pan will lift up and out.

This should give you good access to most of the sill area (where you rust is)

If you need to pull the seat boxes, just start pulling things out - there is no science to it. Seats first, then cubby box, then keep unscrewing etc etc.

Soon enough you will be left with a gaping hole with a gearbag in the middle.
