    Front diff pinion seal

Apologies if this has been covered a million times before, but stuffed if I can find anything by searching.

'85 110 - I changed the front diff pinion flange and seal while I had the engine out a few months ago.
After about 1500km its leaking quite badly again, so guessing I've either damaged the housing where the seal sits, or possibly fitted the seal too deep (its the first one I've done). I also need to check that the breather is still OK.

    Anything else that I'm overlooking?

Is it just a standard industrial seal, or a landrover special?
Pretty sure it was a LR one I fitted last time, but not sure if there are old/new/improved types..

The correct seal in all the ones I have had, seems to be heavy duty, and not a standard seal. I think I paid about $40 so it should be special. The most recent ones I have had have been green in colour.

Yes if you put it in too deep it will leak as there is a taper on the yoke just there. Just about flush with the top of the diff housing.

If the yoke is damaged a new yoke is quite cheap AFAIR a few weeks ago, $28.
I am talking RRC but AFAIK Same same.

    Thanks Philip.
Its got a brand new yoke/flange so should be no issues there.

Any idea what the P/N of the seal was?
