    That Crap TD5 Defender Harness

    Hi all

well the long weekend here in the nations capitol have has not been a lot of fun!
Last week got the oil leaking out of the ECU and all the symptoms described in the various threads, no biggy ordered new injector loom and flush main loom as per instructions in the Good Oil.
So far so good and after a rough old start car ran fine..... then stoped a couple of hours later..mmm.
Re-flush and get excess oil out of ECU connector but car still runs like a bag of puss! Now I have no oil in the connector and all looks good - is there anything elso that I need to look at that is obvious or is it time to call a tow truck next week and fork out some serious dollars for a main loom?

    DPL Upgrade
    Silicon Hoses
    Intercooler (DPL)
    EGR Kit

Any assistance/pointers would be greatly appreciated as the dam thing is not even running well enough to get out off the mess carpark!!!

    Cheers.

    Oiled ECU

Doesn't help in this situation but regular inspection at scheduled services is the only way to prevent this event, best of luck and best wishes RAEME Ray.

The oil also gets to the crank sensor etc... via the loom...

Just check a few plugs and clean

What where the symptoms that you had originally?
Sounds a little like a fuel pump issue going from what I've read in other threads.

Not the best way to start a long w/end, good luck with it.
    Cheers, Kyle

No the long weekend didn't start all that well and is not getting any better - currently doing the pre-course for next months fun at work!

Originally the car started blowing smoke and misfiring, lost heaps of power etc - pulled the ECU plug and oil poured out.

Replaced the injector loom and flushed main harness and all good for a bit but then same symptoms and only just got the bloody thing back to the mess - currently running it and cleaning ECU plug every time it splutters away and dies.

Cheers for the other sensor advice Tombie - will try and find them and clean, handy with LAV's but this thing is a pain in the ....

its also worth bogging the loom up with silicon too..

I always mod mine, silicon around and in the plug, small amount of silicon on top of the injectors to seal better, plug all the holes i can find... disco is 4 years now with no oil... just done the deefer... so we'll see how it lasts..

to be honest it should be a 40k k's service item.. its relatively cheap and easy to do... just a bit of a bugger getting the gasket to seal ok at the back...
