brand new Puma - my first LR

hi to all in the forum... long time reader but first time poster..
i am about to take delivery of my very first LR - a 110 Puma.
Any tips on making sure i get a " good one" ?
Anything i should insist on for the pre purchase inspection from the dealer?
Any factory recalls i should check on? i think its a march 2011 build
getting it from Purnell LR in Sydney.. any good/bad experience with them?

very excited to finally buy one , even though i am aware of their patchy quality

any tips to make my Puma ownership a good one from the start are much appreciated

 cheers
 ANDRE

Hi Andre firstly congratulations. I am not sure on any specific pre-checks, when I picked mine up I did a thorough once over with the stealer and made sure everything looked ok.

From there I have just kept a notebook in the car and anything that needed attention I just drop into the dealer and have them cross off the list. They have been great (Trivett) fixing things under warranty.

My Puma has been great and I take it for what it is, a practical and simple vehicle with a unique personality. I hope you enjoy driving yours as much as I do mine and hopefully we will see you out on the tracks.

 Regards
 Iain

					Good work PushRod,

You will enjoy your PUMA, good advice from Chook73, keep notes on problems and report them promtly to dealer for repairs.

I have had mine for going 2 1/2 years with very little problems.

 Enjoy,

 Cheers Grant

Congratulations Pushrod, I'm excited for you.
No advice to offer other than look it over. When you get it home just check to see how much greese is in the wheel bearings. Getting lockers put on mine I saw very little grease there.

The car gets under your skin, mine is almost a year old and I still get butterfies each morning when I climb in it. I love taking it off road and just being so impressed with how easily it goes.

Enjoy the car. Enjoy the forum. Well done!

Check for any watery / rusty marks in and under the dash area where the door hinges go into (both sides) Look for any water marks as well along the side of the dash. Sometimes the factory build is a little lax when pressing the panels and sealing it all up in and under the dash - this can cause a bit of water ingress..........At least that's how I saw the leaks in my 110 (Feb 2011), and subsequently had them fixed..... (so far )...... )......

Otherwise welcome to the club.......Remember "the wave" - its a crucially important part of being a LR owner with this shape.

When running it in, theres a few schools of thought, some say give it plenty of stick early, but most say drive how you normally would for the first 1000 and then give it some stick !!

Last but not least - my advice would be to remember its really a "truck". Use your clutch slwly and deliberately and avoid racing it until its "loosened up". Oh, and watch out for the anti stall technology - it can catch you by surprise if your not prepared

Today I did the 'Landrover Experience' day that Purnell provides, make sure you follow it up if you don't receive the invitation. Well worthwhile as a soft introduction to your new car. Make sure you check all work is completed when picking it up after warranty work is done
