eBay item number 170514442135 from seller warehouse_fc. Excellent gauge being stepper motor driven.

You need to a cobalt tipped drillbit 8.5mm and a 1/8 NPT tap.
Drill it on the exhaust manifold right in front of the turbo mount where the runners converge. Will usually require the removal of the turbo and a vacuum cleaner in the end of the manifold to suck any swarf out while drilling. This is the easiest part of the whole install.

has this EGT probe in the picture been bent or did you buy like this? and where did you get it?
i have been sent a 100mm probe which is far too long to fit in the manifold as is (td5)

That probe is exactly the same as the one that comes with the Auber kit:

DIGITAL EGT THERMOMETER PYROMETER W/ PROBE-NPT (eBay item 200397678339 end time 15-Jul-11 22:59:09 AEST) : Business Industrial

In fact their pic is the same pic, that is how they come.

They sell loose probes through their website if you don't like ebay, www.auberins.com

    Hi guys,

I just purchased a madman EMS3 for my Defender 130 Puma 2.4 from Nata Enterprises it cost around $700 all up with shipping.

The kit come with what I believe is a cheap Chinese made EGT ( Chinese writing all over the plastic packet). I say cheap because the wire is single strand for each and the thickness of stainless steel braiding is very average. The NTP fitting that screws into the manifold has also quite a short thread. Compared to an EGT sensor I purchased from a specialist, that one came with multi-stranded wires at least 4 and if you look closely the entire sensor is fitted with thicker gauge steel sheathing, etc.

I have exhaust wrapped a terrafirma dump pipe and the manifold itself.

The hole in the manifold is drilled to the left (closer to rear engine) side of where the turbo bolts up. There is a flat circular dimple in the manifold casting where I believe it should go.

I inserted the probe so it's tip is at the centre of the internal diameter of the manifold piping.

As for temps etc, I have not run it up yet as this is on a new engine and I'm still to finish the install. I will reply back once I have some readings etc.

Also photos show the dimple and the madman installed in dash.

    All the best,

    Damo
