How do I find out my EKA code?

When I bought my 2005 Land Rover 90, I was told it had an immobiliser but no alarm fitted in AUS. (It's a td5 SAF build)

Low and behold I opened the door one day and the alarm went off.

So next service I explained that I would like the EKA code (as discussed in the owners manual) so I could disarm the alarm and immobiliser if my battery went flat on the fob.

After much head scratching the LR dealer (a rather large one under a bridge in Melbourne) said they had no idea and would speak with LRA.

Response, LRA has no idea , "Defenders dont have alarms in AUS". I forgot about it and made sure I carried the spare fob on trips.

    Move forward a few years.

Battery goes flat on Fob, much buggerising around as Mrs Sleepy finally delivers me the spare fob.

I have since written to LRA and no response.

    Any ideas?

Is the EKA not retrievable using a Nanocom or the like ? Just like you'd do on a D2 ?

You could try sending a polite PM to Scouse, with VIN # and other relevant ownership details, and see if he is able to help

I am a Nanocom-nincompoop, so I was hoping someone here could tell me that.

Yep, Nanocom will tell you the EKA - I just read mine.

    How to do it:
    Turn Ignition on II.
Turn on Nanocom (disable instrument mode if it starts up with that)
Go right to "AS10 Alarm", enter.
Go right to "Read Setting (expert)", enter.
Press 'yes' to say you do want to read the settings.
Go left (<<) x5 till it says "EKA", then wait a moment and the EKA (4 digit number) will show up.
Then keep pressing Esc to get out of it all.

So long as you don't go into anything that says "Write" you should be ok to poke around.

Hi Sleepy, just for your interest, my uncle has a 2004 Defender Td5 110. It was built in South Africa, and bought new in Australia from the dealer under a bridge in Melbourne! It also has a factory alarm fitted.

... and FYI, you can change it to whatever YOU want it to be ... if you desire

    1 2 1 2 is so much easier to remember than say 13 8 12 6

Your talkin my language Fluids. Is this a nanocom thing?

No I havent progressed this much. I was hoping someone would say "plug in a nanocom and press.." or "send me your vin and I'll..." but no, it is back to the black hole of LRA awaiting a reply.

Scouse has offered to help (public thanks ) but has suggested I try dealer again first.

Oh well, maybe I should start with "I'm thinking of buying a RRS Supercharged V8" wait til they make me a coffee and then hit them with the EKA request.

Not a biggy but just annoys me.

Hi LRT, Yes I think from about 2003 to 2005 most Defenders came from SAF. Jawelnofine!
