    Clutch Warranty

Hi All, just wondered if any of you have had clutches replaced under warrany over 20k, I have a 2010 puma with 60 k on it, for the last year I have complained about the clutch rattled. It went in for its 60k service today and the finaly admited it was the springs, but Landrover wont change it under warranty as it is has done over 20k.

I got them to send me copies of the the service reports to see when I first complained, it was when it had done 40k, they decided to change the turbo heat shield as the thought that was the issue.

I just dont believe that LR can only warranty a clutch for 20k I understand excessive use and all that but they changed the gearbox out under warranty at 50k and advised the clutch was around 50% worn.

Anyway if I dont get any luck with land rover which I doubt they want to hit me for $1500 to change the clutch. Does anyone know somewhere on the gold coast or Brisbane that would do it a bit cheaper?

I am at a loss, you think you are covered under warranty but this is the springs which are inherintly faulty reading all the posts about the death rattle.

    thanks
    Patrick

Had mine done twice in 20,000km no questions from the dealer, other than some new guy that didn't know a Defender from a Holden, the service manager always gave me the option of the the leading hand going for a drive with me to listen to any noise/problem. I cannot see how Land Rover can put up a fight as its been a known fault world wide for a couple of years and Land Rover have supplied two updated clutches thus far to fix this problem. So far the current version seems ok. I've just done a 5000km trip and the clutch is tops. Good luck with your claim, I would hold out before spending my money, sighting the many faults listed both here and on the UK site. If thay still refuse your claim make sure you get the latest update, at that price it needs to last more than a **** 60000km.

Well, sat down last night and emailed LR, response came this afternoon.

Seemed a bit easy, not complaining but makes me wonder if the dealer actully took it to LR in the first place.

Anyway woohoo/phew glad they came to the party..

Hey Pat, I have a 2009 Puma with only 25k that has only had a front diff replaced so far, but most recently has developed a bit of a rattle, Untill now I couldn't put my finger on it. Don't know if its related but since very early on I have been complaining about resistance changing 1st into 2nd. They tell me this is still comparable to any other Puma. Bull**** I reckon. Any of this sound familiar to anyone.

I had the same issue, complained for a year about 1st and second gear, eventualy about 4 months ago they said that the syncromesh was buggered and it needed a new gearbox, they did not have the tools to fix it seemingly so it was a swap out, it made a huge difference, 1st is still a bit notchy but you can mitigate that by driving 'nicer' but the other gears are great now.

The rattle was getting louder also, becoming embarrasing going slow in underground carparks, the ones we can fit in that is.

Also now that I am not sung hung up on the clutch they found another few things wrong which they are changing. bit from the report is below

    Recommendations
hight tone horn requried -to be ordered
front swivel seals leaking - to be ordered
    windscreen chipped
back to back seals requried - to be ordered
egr valve noisey - to be ordered
clutch kit not covered under warranty - $1532
front rotors and rear rotors worn to min thickness
