Hey Drover,
Just wanted to ask, does the old pipe have studs at the turbo end?
I have my pipe delivered from alive and got all excited, removed the heat shield and stopped, I have M8 nuts and bolts for it that I bought, but was just curious what was on it, it looks like it could be difficult to get a spanner underneath to tighten them up, but was hoping once the cat is removed then there would be enough space and visibility yo get to it from underneath.
So how did you fix yours on?
cheers
Pat
Hi Pat,
Once the cat is removed there is a enough room for a socket on an extension to reach the under side of the turbo.
I had the missus hold a spanner on the bolts from the top.
Made up some basic brackets out of aluminium to attach the factory heat shields.
All good.
Thanks mate,
A job for tomorrow then, just need to find something to form a bracket for the heat shield.
Cheers
Pat
I just used some 2mm plate. Easy to bend and cut, you got to love working aluminium.
One piece bent around the cat to form the right shape to go around the bottom of the heat shield and then extending down to one of the spare bolt holes on the engine block. (looked a bit like a boomerang before you put the bend on one of the arms)
A second piece bent to clamp around the pipe and then leading to the other end of the “boomerang” around the heat shield (this was just a straight strip)
Good luck
Not much really,
Broken rear seat clip
Broken sun roof latch
Rear diff pinion seal, just once
Had stealers chase a vibration but that was caused by the 2" lift
Water egress issues
I think that is very good run over 3 years
