Puma Longevity ??

A bit of water ingress..............FIXED

Faulty door alarm and lock (wasnt fitted properly)............. FIXED

Just ticked over 7000kms and I smile every time I hop in it still :)

I have heard all the horror stories, and have been told to expect them to come with more k's, but realistically I am not waiting.

If it happens it will happen - but until that day comes I wouldnt swap it for the world. :D

You wont regret it if you have been through it before, and the new PUMA's are the goods.......... DO IT !

2007 Puma, 72000kms, no breakdowns or failures.

...but...
A loooong list of minor items and preventative parts replacements by the dealer under warranty. Many of these were also caused by the dealer being clumsy damaging things whilst doing other repairs.

Gee these are far to many claims for a new vehicle

My old boys 1HD-FTE troopy has travelled 150,oookms, with the only failure was a wheel bearing at abour 130,ooo, this was due to his own neglect, no warranty claims, no niggles, nothing, that's 2 simpson trips, canning, kimberely, cape work etc

Having to go back to the dealers for anything other than servicing with a new vehicle is bad, let alone more than half a dozen times!

just facts, I still don't think I could handle having to be on a first name basis with a dealership due to continual warranty work on a new car:(

Never took my Tdi back for warranty and it's still going strong today 13 years later,maybe your dad should buy a D4D and see if the same applies,a carton says it doesn't.I drive a 1HD-FTE regulary and IMHO it's the best engine tojo ever made. Pat

I know quite alot of people that have had good runs from tdis, and your right, a d4d won't experience the same level of reliability, I think the same, I'd like to shoe horn one in a rover, the n/a stuff, 1hz, 2h etc I'm far from keen on, but I've scoured the net and talked to everyone I could and the 1hd-fte's don't fail, although my Isuzu makes more power, his is chipped with 3" exhaust and prob 2l/100km less, it's far from refined

Then again the lr is substantially cheaper, but that's lack of door sealing, rattles etc that come with the style, not mechanical issues, they should be very few and far between,

I've had my 09MY10 Defender for 20 months and 33,000kms - hasn't missed a beat nor had any "issues", large or small. Not even an untoward rattle of any kind. Superb vehicle.

Does anyone know or have seen any evidence of corrosion issues in the PUMA between the chassis and the body?

2011 defender wagon, done 2,800k's so far, had the remote central locking cease working (due to electrical interference from a roadhouse!) resulting in having to use PUK to get going again. Burning oil, and venting oil via the rocker cover to inlet manifold. Other issues with trim and fit. I own a 1hdfte cruiser as well from new and no problems, the landrover is good for its intended purpose and hopefully warranty will sort out any issues, so i am basically happy but wish the turning circle was a bit smaller!
