Checked your driveshafts and all steering and suspension lunks are tight?
Hi All,. I am having a real big problem with a vibration with these new wheels and tyres i have brought. They are 16x8 Dynamic steel rims and 285/75 Mickey Tompson ATZ 4 rib. At about 90ks there is a vibration or more like a wobble, you feel it mainly through the body of the car but also through the steering wheel. So far i have had it to 4 different tyre places one of them was Dynamic wheels them selves and still the problem is not fixed!!!!
As you can all inagine this is getting quite frustrating.
Has any one had any experiencices like this at all?
Any thoughts?

Also would not hurt to check your swivel hub pre-loads...

One of the problems with the Dynamic rims is the taper for the wheel nuts not being identical to the Defender wheel nuts.If you don't do the wheel up perfectly concentric then the wheel can be mounted slightly off centre and this can induce the symptoms you mention.Every time I fit mine,I do the nuts up with my fingers,then I stick a bar under the tyre and lift the wheel up,doing the nuts up further as I rotate the wheel,lifting and tightening at 4 or 5 different points.Once I am sure that the nuts are done up concentric as far as I can with my fingers,only then will I do the nuts up tight,before dropping it on to the ground and rechecking the wheel nut tension with the vehicle weight on it.Since I have done this,I have had no problems.Prior to doing this,I had the wheels balanced 3 times,and it felt like I had a bent rim.
It sounds like a lot of work,but after you do it a couple of times,it doesn't take that much longer.And I do it with 35x12.5R16's.

I have almost the same combo, no issues at all.... 16x8 -25 with Mickey T MTZ 285-75-16s, i have them on my county it hasnt seen much high speed stuff yet, but cruising up to williamtown and back now several times in the 100k zone the only thing i have noticed its they are noisier then my 37s
My Puma did this with Performance 8x16 rims and Toyo m/t's. I had them balanced 3 times with no improvement. Then we found the centre caps pushed in from the hub side of the rim, this was the only contact point when the wheel was tightened. We removed them and re balanced them but they still wobbled a little. I swopped them over to the TD5 90 and no problems with either vehicle since.

Thanks all for the input. I do believe it has some thing to do with the size of the centre hole and the hub size. The only thing centering the rim on the hub it the wheel nuts. One tyre centre said to machine up adapters to go in between to ensure the rim sits perfectly centre on the hub.
Funny thing is i had the very same tyres on the original alloy rims and no problem at all. I believe because of a smaller centre hole that locates the rim on the hub.
I'd get some hub-centric rings made. Sounds like as said it's not being centered right and you're bouncing.
Defenders only centre using wheel nuts.
They dont use the hub
