Amazing! And all from an indirect injection diesel with no electronics!

I consider the TD5 to be the best engine Land Rover have ever designed and manufactured - despite some silly issues. The have some good engineering and they should be capable of pretty good performance on road.

However building a small displacement engine for extreme road performance involves much wasted effort and expence for a vehicle intended for much offroad use.

Well yes and no you see bmw is actually vw which is mercedes which is actually jaguar which is ford which is tata motors which is bentley/chrysler which is also chev which is actually holden but wait what came first chev or holden, jeep, dodge and kia which is also nissan, toyota, great wall, sanyong, mahindrah which is also sub company of ferrari etc etc etc
Now with all seriousness I think bmw helped design the motor for land rover and used similar designed motors in there own range but you will find the td5 motor land rover specific....i may be wrong would like to know more about it though
