Check with ARB if their bull bar holes are recovery points, as dumb at it is someone on here found ARB have some assuming name for them, but won't call them rated recovery points.
It is odd LR like to think of themselves as making the best 4x4, but don't include recovery points in manufacturing.

I followed weeds approach. Fitted rated hooks like whats on old landcruisers. On either side of the chassis I used the lower rear manufactured holes like you have previously circled, and drilled anther hole further back fitting crush tube in the chassis while tightening up. I had to use longer high tensile bolts, but replaced LR's 8mm with 10 mm, which fit the factory hole properley. The hooks are commonly available, I got mine from Terrain Tamer for about $18 each.

Yeah I knew it was only a matter of time before someone would pipe up on this one. Every solution on offer is open to criticism and I think on a 4wd that is pretty poor.

I gave ARB a ring this morning to specifically ask them about the bar. After a bit of asking around the shop they decided they were just points for the high lift jack.

But then was just reading through the old thread on the "new" bar (and thinking to myself that it looks like mine and what was the difference ) that has just re-surfaced and notice ARB say on their website "Integrates durable tow points in the Hi-Lift jack recesses".

I read tow point to mean a butt covering name for a recovery point. I have two so will spread the load with a bridle.

BTW I have read issues fitting jate rings with ARB bars. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Issues have been raised regarding the configuration of two bolts creating a pivot point, which I plan to talk to an engineer mate about next time I see him.

I am now saving up for the OEM Landrover bar and Warn Winch, in the 07 Defender accessory catalogue, which has recovery points on it. However I have also been told by a few people that you should not recover off a bull bar.

Where can you buy Jate Rings from in Australia?
I am not sure I understand this pivot problem. If all the force is on the bottom bolt then you are in the same position as a jate ring arn't you where one bolt is also taking all the load?

With a Jate Ring the load is on both ends of the bolt so the load is spread to both sides of the chassis box section. With the Maxidrive brackets the load is largely on one side of the chassis rail box section. Also, because they project down some distance, they are acting as a lever, increasing the load on the chassis.

Thanks for your warning about the cost of the OEM bar. I had a re-think and purchased the attached bar from the Modern Motors Dungog stand at the NSW Landrover Expo yesterday. The cardboard box did not survive the deluge.

How long it will sit around in my shed while I catch up on my fencing and mowing chores is unknown.....
