    One step at a time...95 110 "quirks"

Hey guys, I am just starting to play with my new to me 95 2 door 110, with the idea being that i will be taking it for a blue slip in the near future.

I have a few issues, which while i have tried searching, im sure will be more familier to people if i ask the question.

    Indicator/headlight dipper:
This seems a mess. Well, not so much a mess, but something aint right. If i push the headlight switch (just the headlight switch, not the indicator/dipper) i get parkers, if i push it further to the second position, i get nothing. My indicator's arnt working (neither dash lights or on the car), and when i push forward on the dipper i get nothing. When i pull back, i get high beam. This seems a little deja vu from me previous RR 2 door, but while i did a little looking around, i never actually sorted this as it was never a registered truck. The relay clicks for high beam when i pull back on the dipper. I spent this afternoon pulling the dash apart, and got all the heater/fan levers working as they were well encrusted with what i am going to call crud. I straitened out the levers so they will work and now that side is all sweet. Joy i now have a heater!!! In doing so i pulled the cover off around the steering column to have a look at the switches. After having a captain cook i decided it all looks to be normal...and i dont really have a clue what im looking at. While i was in there I glued in the wiper switch back into its hole, it had come completly out of the switch, and while this is just a temporary fix, ill see how it goes. I have decided that my cracked and brittle dash will one day get replaced, as a fair amount of the tabs are broken off, and the previous owner had made his own brackets and filled in the blanks with self tappers...

    RUST!!!
The floor under the pedals at what looks to be the base of the firewall is holier then the pope. What is the norm to replace this section? just cut bits out as required or is there a section i can buy to rivet/weld in there? Im sure this is a fairly common repair location.

Ill start with this and see where it goes, im sure i will have a few other issues that arrise as i start pulling it apart...Thanx guys

well you might have a bit of job overcoming the home handyman work of some previous owner - but I am guesssing you got it cheap enough with the expectation of having to do some repairs - right?

for a 15-16 yo well used 4WD vehicle this is the reality of how it is

fortunately parts are available and cheap and it is quite usual to expect to replace that 3 position headlight switch - some of carry one as a spare 'cause you don't want it going on you on a dark night and have to use the headlight flasher for illumination

there are headlight relay rewiring kits which overcome this problem in part but the switch itself eventually wears out.

see drivesafe's traxide site Traxide for futher info

it's not a huge job to have repair patches welded in the bulkhead - but what about the doors and doorframes if there is rust in the bulkhead - was it used on a beach?

I havnt got round to pulling the door cards off, but i will be doing that tomorrow. I did get it cheap, and had it shipped down from brisbane to sydney, so the fixing part i knew was coming.

I just remembered another little issue...the clutch pedal occasionally sits on the floor. It still drives while its sitting on the floor, i just have to kind of pull it back with my foot. then give it a little bit and it comes back to the normal position.

Headlights on my 95 110 wagon go off and revert to just parkers when you switch off the engine. See if that is your problem.

Big ups to Karcraft @ Silverwater!!!

Yesterday lunchtime i ordered a heap of parts, ball joints, gaskets, filters, seals, washers, bolts and fixings, indicator/dipper switch, new hoses, windscreen rubber etc etc etc, and they arrived this morning!

Local Landy dealer wanted $220 for a new windscreen rubber seal as opposed to $39 from Karcraft. Ill say no more
