LT77 Temp Sensor
Hey Guys,
Since I've lost my LT77 twice now due to no oil I'd like to install a temperature gauge in my transmission (since fluid level seems sorta out of the question).
What's the best way to go about this? Has anyone done it? Initially I thought about drilling and tapping a hole and mounting some sort of digital thermo - with a 52mm VDO readout.
Now I'm thinking it'd be a lot smarter to modify the drain plug - thoughts - opinions?

Not sure what temp a gearbox runs at but why not connect up one of those Temp Watchdogs TM2 (available on Fleabay for $149) to an external bolt in your gearbox. They measure up to 125 degrees C (I think). I have one connected to the head of my Defender as my temperature alarm and it works great. The guy who sells them is in Brisbane so you could give him a call to see if it would work on a gearbox.
