    Puma Fuel pump.

Does the puma have the fuel pump in the tank as the td5 does. I have a puma ordered and was wondering if the fuel pump and fuel system is the same, as I may change the long range fuel tank over to the new vehicle if it will fit. The fuel pump would need to fit in the old tank.
    Thanks

No, there is no in tank pump like the TD5. Below is a pic of the fuel pick-up and the only wires go to the gauge. The Puma tank appears the same at the top and should fit straight into your TD5 tank

I installed a new ARB tank in ours as I had a good opportunity. The tank size for the Puma had dropped from 130 litres for the TD5 to 120 litres for the Puma. I am uncertain where the differences between the 2 are, but i think it is worth a try. If the tank doesn't fit you can always sell it and you will probably be half way to a new one.

No, PUMA does use a pump inside the fuel tank.

I'm with TimNZ on that one, hence the bugger about with special hand pumps if you get air in the system at the fuel filter (no 2 on the diagram).

Trust LR to get rid of a system that could self-prime and put one that can leave you stranded

Yes a stupid idea to remove the intank pre pump. It doesn't even need to be as grunty as the Td5 one, 4 to 5 psi and about 500ml a minute will be ample.

Sorry, but I've got to have a laugh at some of the statements that appear on this forum....

"Well, I don't know about these new "electric" defenders, just more to go wrong!!!"

"What, they got rid of an electrical part! That's just cost cutting!!!"

In a combined 120,000 "Puma" kilometers I've never been in a position where I have had to prime the fuel system, (touch wood ). If the worst happens I'm sure I can rig up something to pressurise the fuel tank via the breather, (as Bundalene did).

    Cheers,
