    Puma air-con issues

The air-con in our Puma is not engaging. The fan comes on when the button is pressed but the pump is not engaging. Anyone else had any issues or able to illuminate what might be going wrong? Cheers in advance, Tim.

Possibly clutch air gap ...compressor fails to engage properly. Fairly easily fixed...AFAIK it involved either removing or adding shims. A search on Range Rovers should assist...try compressor clutch...

or there's an electrical problem in the link harness ...

indeed, have a look at RangeRovers.net • View topic - Air Con Compressor Clutch....Help!! scroll down the page

    could be a similar issue(s) ?

    good luck

    Ah Stig...
Not sure I get your point... he says the pump isn't "engaging"...by that I thought he meant that it wasn't physically "moving" ... which means either that there's an electrical fault and / or mechanical problem with the clutch ...am not sure how a lack of gas would stop it "engaging" unless it needs some residual pressure or load to allow it to do so perhaps?

LP (Low Pressure) switch in the AC system will stop the clutch from engaging is what Stig is getting at.

Yeah, thought it was probably low gas, but wasn't sure why that would stop it from engaging. Thanks Tim.

yer sorry about that, if it gets down to anything less then about 500grams it wont kick the clutch in, commen spot for leaks is behind the engine ecu at the thermo stat,, if your stat is realy bugger it will freaz there and crack the housing and let the gas out aswell,
