    Some 2002 Defender 110 woes

Last night I went to start the truck and after turning on the ignition all the lights on the dashboard went out but carried on turning the ignition and started okay.

This morning turned on the ignition, the lights on dash came on then went out and engine wouldn't start. It was as if there was no battery.

Turned key to off removed key tried to start again Dead.

Tried again Dashboard lights normal, engine fired.

    Any ideas?

I had a ignition switch fitted two years ago by then local dealer in Cairns.

Hmmn I did wash the truck yesterday with jet hose at a carwash place.

    Next question.
I realise the air con in a 2002 Defender isn't the best but just lately noticed it isn't very cold.

Anyone know of a Air con place that would look at it and be okay with working with a Defender? I am 200km South of Sydney.

    Cheers in advance

    Dean

Barrie Auto Electrics in Hornsby will sort it out for you.

Most likely issue is a crack in the condensor where the mounts are spotwelded or such like to the actual cooling core. Best solution is to get a new disco 1 condensor (after market) fitted, has twice the capacity and the core is in a frame that will fit in nicely. will cost about $800.00 all up to fix if that is the issue.

Pull your battery terminals off and make sure everything is clean and tight
