Cant find alot of information on the 2.2 Defender launching end of the year. But I have just paid my deposit on mine. Due for delivery 10 Dec in Perth. 110 WS. Cant wait. It will be my first land rover. I love to hate them ! Will keep you posted on issues.
By the by,
Have you sighted the new Jaguar add for the new 2.2 Diesel? Only guessing here but can it be similar to the new Defender motor???????

SubscriberYou must be in the fast lane I have paid a deposit a month ago and will not arrive until mid march, but then I wanted a 2012 plated model.
Thanks Naks,
Now I reularly drive my 98 Defender, although it has a 6.5 chev and 4L80E auto apart from other mods, and having lived with the 300Tdi for what 11 years, and now having the Puma to drive..... I can say with all honesty that the Puma is the winner.
The 300 tdi was so reliable, could cart my cape Y trailer and full of gear anywhere. But it just doesn't quite do it where I go some times. So to get rid of it took a bit of soul searching. In situations where say in mud and to work your way through and having a jump up at the end the 300 did not have enough grunt (sorry ECN 343 persons) to get through.
Put the Chev in and all is well in the above situation. I does drink (abt 15.5 to the 100) Sounds a treat, and from stall has all that you would want. At speed it can carry fully laden with a fully laden trailer...Now abt 19 to the 100 and if I am up it 21 to the 100....but will cruise at 110 easy.
The Puma is nothing like the above two. It goes and is very capable in all situations although I haven't loaded it up like I do the chev. I goes beyond what the others do. I guess its the mapping but it is hard to keep it under highway speed limits, well after driving a loud an rattling older vehicle it's easy.
Whom am I....But I would predict that the 2.2 will deliver the goods. Standard. Out of the box.

PeterW

A mate of mine in Kalgoorlie had a 6.5 or 6.2 chev, can't remember and I've had my 300 Tdi for 13 years but the Puma is better.Personally I don't think there will be an ounce of difference between the 2.4 and 2.2. Pat
