Puma front shaft does not come apart. I tried to separate it and failed.
My Puma did the vibration thing, I fittied a D/C front shaft and all is good.
5mm - 10mm is all it takes.
I got mine made locally cost me $900.
Very luckey with mine, did a 2 inch lift when new with all sorts of problems, changed over to 130 spring up front and standard rear to rectify droop from ARB bar and winch, with wire and no problems. Puma's seem to be very odd in that some seem to not vibrate/grind ect when not standard to those that are almost undriveable. I agree you don't need much to cause all sorts of trouble. The rear end on the other hand has no such problem. I've removed both sets of seats in back of the Puma, fitted a Doliam draw system and 2 x 40 litre fridges. The rear, with air bags at 5lb has come up about 1.5 inches and no problems at all. Strange vehicle.

here,s a short history of dealer/ L-R aust diagnosis to date.
puma handed over to dealer to fix vibration in front drive train at 67kph...that appears after recall work is done on transfer case/ seal/ handbrake drum issue.
On my advice dealer removes rear tail shaft in process of elimination to confirm if problem front or rear....tets drive
Vibration increases as expected.
Dealer replaces rear tail shaft and removes front drive shaft....test drive
Suprise ...........with front shaft removed , vibration is still there.
dealer replaces front differential..with new one...test drives......vibration still there.
discussion with mechanic , he says he thinks it is in the transfer case...
also says they are under orders from L-R aust and can only proceed after each process has been carried out..fair enough.
Dealer "states they have hit a brick wall"
Next discussion with dealer ......they have decided vibration is caused by h-duty L-Rover springs... increasing angle on front drive shaft!!!

this obviously catagorically removes the h-d spring / drive shaft angle from the equation !!!
Can anyone on forum advise me or had similar dealings with l-r aust..
they closed the case when dealer informed them that the springs were the issue .
But due to my protests have reopened the case , alltho i am yet to get a conclusion.
Any advice re ; avenues of protest appreciated....

have theyy checked the clutch? its not the clutch springs rattleing is it
put the original springs back and see if vibration is still there
Removing the front driveshaft removes the driveshaft phasing or angle as a cause. This leaves the other rotating components such as rear driveshaft, clutch (as per dullbird), wheels, output shaft bearings in transfer case, diffs, handbrake drum or bolts in unijoint flanges not properly tightened.
If the castor is the problem, the vibration will be different to that for the above problems. The steering will feel looser (wander) and the steering can vibrate.

I wonder if this is a GKN number their uni series differently to Hardy Spicer (generally regarded as industry standard).
All 13xx uni's have the same size/diameter bearings but as the xx (00, 10, 30 & 50) change from the size across the yoke increases. I re-checked my previous statement in the Hardy Spicer catalogue (not covering the Puma) and have found it was correct (i.e. 1310 used in early Land Rovers then reduced to 1300 series in later years. A sudden large increase to the much larger 1350 series is extraordinary!
Two or three different types of sealing are usually used for slip joints. Some have a gland nut (doesn't look like a nut) that has to be unscrewed to separate the slip joint. Some slip joints can be very tight when trying to pull out past their normal operating range of movement.
