Hi gt4
By all accounts, your engine is not behaving normally and the oil consumption should not be in the amounts that have been reported.
Get in touch with a dealer and find a sympathetic ear to explain your problem to.
Reminding them, that word of mouth from a happy customer is the best type of advertising there is.
Cheers Arthur
There is a dealer on the Gold Coast : Bruce Lynton Land Rover. Your Land Rover dealership Gold Coast QLD
and one in Brisbane also..
There is also a decent Land Rover Mechanic on the the Gold Coast: Rick's 4WD Centre - Land Rover, Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, Defender, Freelander, Land Rover Mechanics, Land Rover Repairs, land rover, landrover spare parts, land rover accessories
Good luck with it.. :)
dito never used oil in our's we on 103k now
16,000 k's and three years, not a drop engine oil used.
I have been to the dealers at Toowomba, whom have checked the more obvious things, but further diagnoses will be more involved,ie checking the bores etc.
thanks for your helpful suggestions and locations of dealers. the oil burning is up to 1 litre per 450 (yes 450K!) yet it blows no smoke etc, yes there is something amiss and no doubt it will be worked out.
cheers:)
Hope it all gets sorted and the rest of your trip is uneventful ;)
If you're coming back through this way give me a yell.
You're right re no smoke, there wasn't the slightest puff when you took off in front of me.
Bloody amazing.
So if its not smoking, its either getting burnt off completely or leaking out somewhere. I'll ask the obvious, you have checked all over for leaks?
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope LR sort it properly for you. Best of luck.
No oil use on mine at 160,000km either. Maybe he glazed it...Tassie ambients, short local runs perhaps, and the thermostats don't operate that well (my experience at least) could result in glazing bore. Easy enough fix if it is.

If it's useing a litre every 450k's it would be blowing clouds of smoke or leaving oil patches everywhere. Pat
