    PUMA Traction Control

I have a 2011 Defender 110 with Traction Control - Great! Can anyone tell me how it works on a Defender?

All the manual tells you is that it exists but I understand there are many ways it is implemented.

    Thanks

Im assuming Puma is the same but on the TD5 when the ABS senses a wheel spinning it applies the brake to the spinning wheel & drive is thus transferred to the wheel with traction (on the same axle). Which is why it makes a bit of a racket in the process the ABS pump is in operation.

It should be the same as mentioned. The only thing is I believe since 2011 Pumas now have a Seimans ABS unit and not the Wabco-D as all previous ones have. This may make the behaviour slightly different.

It was my understanding that the TC went to a Bosch with MY11 Defenders and that with the change it operates across all 4 wheels, not front and rear independantly. Some useful discussion here: Defender2 - View topic - ABS & Traction Control.

I wonder how the Siemens performs in comparison to the wabco. Mines the wabco and I've had my car fishtail a couple of times when I've tapped the break doing more than 70 on a straight gravelly road. Would be interested to hear from those that know.

I have a 2011 puma and the TC is quite smooth,it's no where near as smooth as the L322 Range Rover but it works all the same.I have driven both my Tdi defender and TDCi up the same tracks and were's the Tdi scrabbles for grip the TDCi walks up easy as pie. Pat

    Hi,
I believe the Defender Traction Control does not work in reverse gear from what I saw on a recent club trip.

    cheers
