Several days upside down?
Sorry to hear of the loss, hopefully insured, did it happen in the Vic High Country?

						Ladies and Gents,
I have the sad and sorry task of informing you all that a well loved Silver 2010 Puma 110 has been declared a write off and is on its way to Pickles in Melbourne.
For those that are interested, there might be a couple of straight panels left on it if you are lucky, but otherwise everything is mechanically sound. The engine had only done 20 000 and will only need a good checking as it did spend several days upside down.
I am a little too well acquainted with the driver/owner who won't be buying the wreck, but there are some parts on it that I would be very interested in buying back at.
Should anyone discover the final resting place of this fantastic but less than roadworthy truck please don't hesitate to PM me or post.

yep - just out of Benambra. Were you one of the many that drove past? it was a busy time for the recy mech.
all insured and will get a new one - just wait and see whether it is a 2.4 or 2.2. I now get to go through the fun process of setting everything up again, but at least I am better informed, was able to salvage most bits and will therefore do it better and cheaper. I might even reconsider what I list on the policy next time.
always sad to hear. Hope everyone was ok.
How did it handle the roll? The roof etc?

it was the most benign and boring event created by poor road surface (well graded just poor composition), lots of rain and what was despite being much reduced, was still too fast.
4 wheels sliding in wet clay on means no control. i was aware of the clay and had been carefully working with it for the last hour or so. it all happened at 45-50km/h on a straightish section of road. I hit some pot holes which bounced me around, losing traction and direction. was off the road in a very short time and distance. when all forward motion stopped i was on the side of step bank. the car just rolled straight side ways (drivers side down) and ended up upside down and hung up on some trees. didn't make a full rotation.
the roof held up fairly well all things considered. there was some slight staving of the roof at particular impact points but nothing too bad. My novice judgment thinks that it held up so well as the roll was a purely single direction event (sideways) - there was no forward motion pushing the windscreen backwards.
the most scary part was the damage done by a small tree stump that it rolled over. the stump opened up the back quarter panel in a disturbingly clinical fashion. thank heavens that wasn't my door - i can only imagine what a star picket in a luck spot might do. I guess that's the price of light weight and rust free alloy.
next time i'll just brew up and wait it out - I wasn't in that much of a hurry. it is always surprising how quickly it dries out and hardens up again once the rain stops. the only other option, which is safe but rather destructive, is to throw on the chains.

						ga day bill

i have had recent roll over my self not good
take carecheers cooee
The first roll is usually ok, it just peeps for the second when the roof flattens
Hi Bill
I'm glad that you are still about to tell us, what did happen.
Chains are a lot less destructive than you think, a tyre, with it's tread filled with clay, leaves a rut that starts water running down carrying away loose soil.
Whereas chains leave a dent from the grip bar, across the flow of water and this diverts the water off to one side.
Chains when fitted, should not be used with anything more than a steady idle, due to the risk of transmission damage and chopping the track up, with excessive power applied causing wheel spin, defeats the purpose of fitting them for grip in the first place.
