    Tough Dog Adjustable Steering Damper

Does anyone have any experience of these things? Good/Bad/Indifferent?

I currently have a TD return to centre stereing damper - its been good but needs replacing (its leaking). My only comment is that the spring occasionally works its way off the securing collar, hence looking to change type.

    Thx

do you need a return to center steering damper?
are you running larger tyres? my understanding is that this is the main application requiring return to center dampers, or just go a normal one. the 80 dollar boge one I have on my 300tdi has worked fine for the last three years

    Hi,
    I run 255x85R16s MTs

I find the rtc works well, especially on heavily corrugated roads.

I'm more after something that will absorb the heat from use on long corrugated roads rather than something that is adjustable. The TD adjustable is a large bore unit that should dissipate heat efficiently and thus last / give reliability and performance. This is how the RTC unit failed.

I too have had TD rtc steering damper fail as well as the rear shocks ( all adjustables )
I would be very hesitant to put anything TD on any vehicle again.

Interesting. I've had the TD Foam Cells on for 3 or 4 years and they've been great & very predictable. They are due for replacing now though.

I didn't particularly want to open up to a what's best thread... But what else would people recommend for a large tyre'd, raised, over landing vehicle?
