Try Loctite....
Previously I had x3 210mm legged Rhino bars on my Disco 2, they were on for a couple of years and I had no problems. I put them on my Defender a few months ago, initially with my roof basket. On the 1st trip, to the high country the whole lot rattled loose and I got to my destination to find it all gone
Luckily I found it about 5kms back down the track. Since then I have put the 3 bars back on with my alli rail for my awning (the main reaon at the moment for me having them on there.) But I seem to be continously tightening them up on a regular basis, no matter how hard I do them up.
I am aware that the gutter on my Defender is very shallow, where as the Disco gutter seemed to be a better fit. The bolts on some of the legs that you do up with the sort of allen key like tool are staring to get rounded.
Does anyone or has anyone else had this problem? I am starting to get p****d offwith this and can see them going on ebay at this rate, which would be a shame as I like having my 'Bob Burrage' awning on.

Try Loctite....
Col I can sympathise with you. I have one over the crease in the cab's roof which holds an awning, and occasionally trestles and planks. Personally I think it's crap as it works itself off the under part of the gutter when weight is put in the middle of the bar. It does this with no where near the rated 70kg it is meant to hold.
I asked Rhino for a solution but I am still waiting for an answer some 12 or more months ago. Make of that what you will.
I did think of placing some double sided tape on the underside of the gutter and putting the clamp back on. You could also screw or pop rivet it on once in place but I'm not big on that idea.
I think there are far better systems on the market than Rhino's, mostly made of alloy clamps. I'll be looking into them if the tape fails.

I had Rhino racks on my Fender for 6 years and never had an issue with them coming loose. However you do need to make sure the bolts are done up really tight.

I've got Rhino bars on my defender no problems, however I got some extra bars that came off a Toymota Troopie, the foot part that wraps under the gutter were a different shape, and had to be replaced, maybe you need to do the same with the Disco parts.
On the Rhino site Defender legs are listed as RL210DS8, the troopie ones were RL210S2, so indicative of some difference.
I'd be checking with a Rhino dealer.

I haven't had a problem with my Rhino Bars on my One Ten, using the legs specified for the Defender. Well, apart from that time the bars rubbed against a cliff...even after a bit of twisting and mangling they still stay on tight-my roof top tent lives on them all the time. If my Isuzu can't shake damaged legs off, there is something wrong with yours!
Hi Col,
My Rhino bars kept coming loose as well due to corrugations, on a recent Cape York trip. The only things on the roof were a tyre casing and awning, not a lot of weight.
Luckily I only lost a bolt and even though the replacement bolt WAS loctited it still can loose, to the point I was tightening them at least twice a day.
My bars now sit in the shed as I am also unsure how to rectify the problem.

When I did the Gulf I had my tinnie on two sets of Rhino bars and it fell off the roof more times than I can remember. When I did the red centre my roof tent was on the Rhino's,it walked up and down the roof the whole 6 weeks, same as tassie,High country etc etc.Personally I think they are rubbish and the Puma isn't getting any.
