			fault that keeps popping up

					I have a td5 defender which i test with a hawkeye regular and everytime it has a fault "3028 driver demand high fault". Does anyone no why this keeps coming up i know when its logged cause the car drives really sluggish and i have trouble getting up to speed. Could it be some thing to do with too high boost pressure. Is my waste gate not opening.

					The driver demand circuits are for the throttle position sensor. I've only recently got my TD5 back on the road after replacing the section of the loom between the black ECU plug and the throttle position sensor (6 wires in total). My fault was "Driver demand 1 out of range" though and it would make the ECU cut the engine to idle with no throttle response.

 I eventualy got a diagnosis using my hawkeye to watch the driver demand voltage and wiggling the loom where it exits the seatbox.

 After I repaired that I could only get about 65mph out of her which turned out to be a stuck waste gate. I think I got an error for something loke overboost and one for manifold pressure iirc.

 Wastegate is easy to check, get a hold of the rod coming from the actuator with a pair of mole grips. You should be able to (with a little effort) move it towards the turbo body. Mine was solid. In my case it was the wastegate itself that was siezed rather than the actuator. a little bit of WD40 and a wiggle with some pliers sorted that out. She now pulls like a train right through the rev range.

			Fault codes from Nanocom

					If it assists at all....

 3 = Driver demand problem one logged
 0 = Generic
 28 = Injector peak charge short

 If the 28 is followed by numbers up to 5 eg - 28-1 then that is the relevant injector...

 This is straight out of my Nanocom manual

					Turbo should last at the very least around 300,000km if looked after by cooling after long runs and the like.

 In my experience turbo's don't give much warning when they're on the way out. I lost one on a 300Tdi due to an unrelated oil pressure issue and it went from ok to "disintergrated" in a distance of 2km.

					If anyone wants to know how to unstick ur wastegate i found clamping a vice grip and bashing it with a hammer to work well.
