I have only ever taken my 140L tank down to 12L left, wasn't game to keep on going. That was Central Coast to the Gold Coast, towing a 2t off road caravan on 1 tank. About 950K's (warning light had been on for 125K's when I filled it up)
Exactly. I have a Long Range tank on my Td5 which supposedly holds 127 litres. Ran out of fuel once and could only get 114 litres back in.

I just checked the fuel consumption on the wifes ninety following playing with the exhaust ect and around town its doing 11ltrs per 100km, that with me driving it like its stolen. My Puma doesn't come close around town. Can't wait to tune the big beast

    Hey Allan,

You wont be disappointed, their is hugh potential in the TDCI 2.4.

You should consider De-Cat and Intercooler first. I did the BAS and intercooler at the same time, but since driving with standard tune loaded the pipe and intercooler make a massive difference. Worth considering.

It is a shame that WA is sooooo far away, other wise you could have drive in mine and try the different maps.

    Cheers

Thanks for that, I'll do the exhaust over the next couple of weeks, then the tune. I have another Kimberly fishing trip planned for next year so I want it set up for then.

Have a great and safe Christmas and New Year.

I've just driven across from Newman and my economy was all over the place. We had very strong winds and 450 was the most I could get out of a standard tank but without the wind a bit over 500 was easy to get, filling at Dubbo I got 600 on the final tank across the blue mountains to Cessnock. Most of the open road driving was at 120+ and at that speed the defender is pushing lots of air were's on the winding sections 80 was about the speed we could do,all up about 12/100 against the wind and down to 10 or so taking it easy. The standard tank is stupidly small for what the defender is made for,but I'll tell you all it handled the dirt and corrigations like a champion,I won't be changing the shocks and springs and when they wear out originals are going back on. best i have ever seen was 9.5 round town. usually around 10.5, we got 14 with the camper trailor on over 500km in varied conditions and some stuff on the roof rack. we have a extra tank in the wing and get around 900km per tank but can push to 1000km before i get too twitchy to go any further

I achieved 9.5ltrs per 100, one time only. Average around 10.5 normally. No performance mods, everything is stock standard apart from a steel bar and winch.

I average 11 litres/100 in my 90, which has only 4Ks on it, but that is mostly city driving - economy improves on a long run though.
