    Def 90?

    Am very tempted to get a 90 (very good price at the moment) for the wife to tow the horsefloat and for me to take on big trips. Can I get an aux fuel tank for it and is there enough room fo 2 people to load up for extended trips?
    Also should I go for a 2.4 or the 2.2? I thought that the 2.2 was the Freelander engine but have read elsewhere that it isn't.

    The 2,2 is the povo pack engine from the ranger (lr should have put in the td5 3.2L !)the older 2,4 is the transit engine.
    You may be able to fit a tank under the drivers seat like a series swb if you move the electrics from there to a mulgo cubby box x-Box.
    With a cargo barrier it would go anywhere you want.

    The 90 is easily big enough for 2 people to do extended trips with. We have lived out of ours for several trips of around 3 weeks. You do learn not to carry uneccessary junk however!

    Yes look up specs for ranger T6.
    It has a2.2 td, a3.2td both built on same line as the def,s as well as a2.5 petrol

    You can by law tow the same amount as the 110 in the 90. Never had a problem towing with my 90. Last time was a range rover classic on a car trailer behind the 90

    You can pick up land rover pre td5 fuel tanks. Which were under the drivers seat. Which is where mine is on my 90 and then I have a long range tank under the back

    A D90 would be perfect for towing a horse float. Reversing a trailer in a 90 is different to a 110 because of the very reduced distance between the tow ball and the rear axle (ie very little overhang). Touring for two in a D90 is very good but does require you to remove the rear seats. I bought my 2010 D90 as a touring vehicle. I have added two auxiliary fuel tanks giving me a total capacity of 145 litres.

    most people tow horse floats with 90's in the UK they are very good tow vehicles
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    wow, I didnt think it possible for a 90 to tow a horse float.... now that I have been informed I might have to go order one for my towing duties
