Defender Tailgate Lock
Happy New Year to all.
I'm having trouble with the rear door/tailgate locking mechanism on my 300Tdi Defender.
When I lock/unlock with a key, there is no longer any resistance as I turn it. It feels as though there was an over-centre spring or something that has broken and it won't stay in the locked position when I withdraw the key.
A replacement part is not cheap, and I'm wondering if somebody else has had a similar failure which was rectified simply?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Scott

Had the same problem myself. Take it off, drill the rivets out and have a peek. I forget what was wrong with mine, something come adrift, I fixed it but it wasn't a spring. Had to make my own rivets to stick it together again.
Not real testicle to do.
Lindsay.
