I have had a couple of rally cars and the mudflap material you want is the same as we use, its 6mm poly sheeting 1m x 1m and very tough.
You can get it from revolution racegear.
I am using it all under my puma to stop the sandblasting.
Big black cableties are the go.
The big problem with the D90 rear mudflap position is that at highway speed the mudflap bends up and the exhaust gas burns the rubber. Check out one that has done around 10,000kms and you'll find the corner is missing. Mine is just starting to "crisp" at 3,000kms. Defender Mike's has starting seriously burning itself smaller at 8,500kms:eek:! I think the position on the 110/130 is better, but not really an option on the D90.
At 140kph there smokin:angel:
I put front ones on mine. Made a bracket to fit on the side steps (also made myself) Bolted them on to the steps at the front. The rubber protrudes up into the wheel arch and down to about 250 mm from the ground. Used 10mm thick skirting rubber for the flaps. You can get skirting rubber at industrial rubber joints.
