Well I got the ultimate wave to day Went to the shop in big RED and I waved to a 110 at the lights, they followed me and parked beside me for a chat

Turns out they love their defender but don't know about AULRO they do now

Love the Defender Wave, however my daughter hasn't quite caught the spirit so when she's driving she's almost oblivious to other defenders approaching, but my wife feels obligated to return the waves from the passenger side to compensate for the poor form by the driver! It's certainly raised her defender awareness level.

On a similar note, when growing up the family vehicle was an old VW Kombi split screen model. All split screen models waved at each other with almost 100% reliability, particularly on country roads. Usually all occupants not just the driver! The newer full screen models just didn't get into it at all. I'm sure this has probably died out with the lack of old Kombis on the road now.

    Cheers

re: Where's the Defender wave gone?

I've owned a defender for 11 days now. Today was the first time I have passed another defender and I got my first defender wave. What a good feeling. It was from a green 90 heading south on Peninsula link about 6pm. Anyone on here?

In Preston (VIC) we wave... I just did today (and got it back). Sometimes I even toot for the mechanic on St Georges Road who leaves his nice 90 in full view. I definitely like do this when I see his head under any Nissan... Go Mario.

Same for split screen land Rover's. Series drivers are very reliable to return a wave.

Really? I'm sorry you feel that way...

I find it to bring a sense of comradeship.. of mateship even as I have had some lovely chats to other Landy owners that I've bumped into in carparks and on the road etc

I'm not quite sure how ego comes into that. It's such a pity that you are missing out.

I'm with you on this one Sue, I saw a new Nara Bronze 110 Puma yesterday and got a wave back, we have an older guy here on the coast that lives up the mountains in an old S3 88" truck cab who cruises back and forwards one or twice a week, he usually waves as well. I think it just a bit of good hearted fun by people interested in the same thing. I always used to get waves and wave back when I drove a mini moke, it was just a given that you did it.I dont see anything egotistical about it.I even have SWMBO and Little SWMBO doing it now.

    WA Defender Wave

Come to Perth, very rare if a defender driver does not wave.
