I had mine made from a SWB hardtop from a series !!A (1969 model). You can pick them up cheaply. I haven't cut mine to allow side entry, but as these are cheap to start with you could modify it however you wished. Mine came with a tropical roof which I have left on. (My roof rack goes over the top). I paid$300.00 for it but I'll bet you could get one for nix. Mine was totally stripped down, new glass fitted including a front piece ans it cost a total of $1950.00. It looks classy on my Puma.

I looked at doing that with my old IIA roof but the dimensions were wrong - too long and not wide enough. Got any pics to show us how you did it?

But if you leave that canopy on why not just buy the wagon in the first place ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

depends what you want to put in there I guess...

fire wood, hay, wet dogs, sheep, harsh chemicals, hunting game or stinky stuff.

you could incorporate larger gull winged doors into it too I suppose.

then your stuff is under lock and key too

My canopy was made about 12 years ago by Spraycraft at Mt Kuring-gai. I believe they are still at it. It's very well made and I'm still delighted with it. One of the most useful things I've ever had made. I've included a slightly out of focus photo, and yes it's on a tray, but I'm sure they could make what you want.

I've been head scratching over rear setup for years now, for want of something better I fabricated a frame to hold the Oztent (up high but just below roof height) and this has served us fine for the last few major trips. However fridge access has always been a nuisance (not to mention the wheel wells) and now I have 255/85s, I don't like the thought of hanging 2 spares so far behind the rear wheels (on swing away carriers I mean). I think the best option for me will be a tray with the 2 spares mounted in front of the tray as low as possible. I can then store fuel in a tank below the tray and have draws in back (below the tray) for stove etc.
This has worked well and stuff has surprisingly not become too wet or dusty. Those spares are 235s and take up enough space, without putting 255s there, fridge is at passenger side front and somewhat inconvenient.

Did anyone discover whether Nene will/can supply a flat packed canopy?

If not, I too would be interested in getting one of these along with some other parts shipped from UK. Perhaps if we had enough interest we could organise a a 20ft container. They'll hold 36m3, so we'd need a few people to make it worthwile.

I particularly like this idea with the deep sides, allowing access to the flat top though you'd need a decent coach-builder to do the tub mods back here in Aus. Anyone know of one?

Whilst I was working for Hannibal Australia I spoke to Neneoverland, about the rear canopy, bottom line was they are not interested one little bit, and they only supply as a complete unit.

I believe the design is a copy of a South African Unit.

I also spoke to Daniel ( Mulgo ) about these units and his estimated costs were $4500/6000 to have one made.

As part of our on going commitment with Patriot Roof Racks, I have talked in detail about Patriot supplying CKD rear canopys, and it is something they are very keen to take forward.

Price wise 3/4k. I think if i went back to them with a number of firm orders then, it would show commitment from here, and speed up the process.

Both 110 Dc and the 130 HCPU would be the go.

I am happy to push further if any one is interested.

As for a 20ft container, you could get maybe 50 CKD units in a 20ft, say $75,000, 1000,000 in value plus shipping, plus tax and duty on the whole shipment, ( $11250 ).

My method would be LCL, far cheaper........again this depends on amounts..

As for the cut out tub on the Nene 130, that conversion came in at 0ver 8k..

    $750AU Yes? Seems quite cheap.

    50 CKD units in a 20ft, say $75,000,
    If 750 p/u, wouldn't 50 units be $37,500?

    What is LCL?
