    DEFENDER TD5 ENGINE OIL VOLUME

I have a Defender 110 2006 and when you change the oil in the engine the manual says to put 8.2 liters in if you change the filter as well but this brings the oil above the maximum line on the oil dip stick ( is this just another landrover thing ) or should it be in between the min & max on the dip stick even if it means not putting in the correct amount of oil it says in the manual any feedback would be appreciated.

I find even 8 litres can overfill them slightly with both filters changed.
    Never tried 8.2

    ....Same here

I would like to know as well. I worry I am creating potential oil leaks (additional oil leaks). However, I just remember this must be another 'LR Thing'.

    Does anyone know?

8.2l is the dry fill value

in reality about 7.5l gets you about 3/4 of the way up between the min and max markings on the dipstick.

Dont forget theres also the potential for some loss in volume in the sump from deposits
