I've always used genuine rubber in the UK, but I had access to a press then.
Anyone know anyone with a press, ideally lower north shore...

One of our members replaced bushes with non-genuine and only travelled from Sydney to Purnie Bore before they were history.
Looks like you may have discovered the cause of your steering problem Jon.
Are you replacing them before next weekend or do we have a job to do at camp next Saturday night?
Roger

Hopefully that's the cause Roger, I'll know for sure soon enough!Originally Posted by Xtreme
No desperate rush to swap them out, Ellie needs the car on Sunday so we'll be in Pete's D2 Friday through Monday.
Clearly I need to do them sooner rather than later though.

It's a very annoying wobble / knocking at about 80-90kph, it shakes the car a bit but is most noticeable through the wheel and particularly when going round a bend.Originally Posted by justinc
It's not wheels balancing or tyres or front DC prop. No noticeable play in any of the steering ball joints. Steering damper is new (old one sprung a leak on CSR). No play n wheel bearings.

OK almost 100% you have soft/ failed delaminated Radius rod to axle housing bushes. They will cause these symptoms especially on sweeping bends at speed.
Also check panhard rod for tightness/ bush movement

OK, so I replaced the rear trailing arm bushes (front and rear) along with the front radius arm bushes (front and rear) at the weekend.
The front end bushes on the rear arms were flogged and needed replacing.
The Radius arm bushes were not too bad, but had defo seen better days.
Unfortunately I still have my steering shake / wobble / knocking.
Panhard rod has no sign of movement, neither does the track rod and associated ball joints.
Im really at a loss as to where this shake annoying is coming from...

Jon

Hi Jon, I imagine you have checked that your wheel bearings are not loose? Otherwise the Railko bushes in the top of the swivel hubs have been known to wear, assuming your vehicle has them. One other item to check is that the steering arm on the base of the steering box is on firmly. I had trouble with that on my Isuzu County some years back. It allowed some wobble to develop and had me scratching my head for quite a while. Cheers, 130man.
Thanks.Originally Posted by 130man
Railko bushes????? Never heard them called that before. Mines a 2006 TD5 110.
Wheel bearings all felt fine a few thousand km ago when I checked.
I'll check the steering box out though, thanks for the tip.
Thx
J
