We do a fair few of these jobs, including new RTC3511 seals and all grease etc it comes out a LOT LESS than that!!!

Had my 2011 Puma in for the 40 000 km service today, Dealer rang and asked if I wanted the bearings repacked! At a bargin basement price of just short of $1000!
Almost fell off my chair! My response included words starting with G G F! I did my 1999 defender for $65 in parts and two hours labor by myself (with frendly hoist next door).
I guess I can pay for my own hoist in three bearing re-packs!

Sounds like the $140 they wanted to charge me to change the windscreen wiper blades, or the $1,300 they wanted for new front springs, fitted of course.......
They did get $560 out of me to replace the front brake pads as they explained if I did not get them through them it would void my warranty.
At the end of the day I have got a lot more out of the warranty than I have paid but it has been a very selective process. Warranty is now over and I will not be going back. On one occasion I picked up the car, drove less than a block and had to take it back to ask them to please do up the wheel nuts on the front passengers side wheel.....

						SupporterYep,had the same issue with my 2010 130 tray top,they told me at the 40k service that because the ute was used to carry heavy loads and did a lot of off road work, it was required to have the bearings repacked, hit me for $640, total service cost was $1350! I said to them that of course I loaded it up and drove it off road...that's what I bought it for!!! why else would I have bought a defender? Service prices are a joke, and to top it off they held onto it for 2 days..and it's my work ute,with no loan car option, let alone a loan ute!
So why are you guys taking them to the dealers for services then?.. Is there no Land Rover mechanics near you??
because it pays to keep a car that is in warranty with a dealer....when the time comes to claim. If you keep your car with a dealer and you get issues after warranty Land Rover have been known to cover issues even major ones
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

It's a warranty thing, whilst I could have taken it to another mechanic I didn't want to risk a refusal on warranty for the bit more it cost. As I said before I was very selective really the only thing I paid for that I baulked at we're the brakes. Sure the cost of the services was a bit more but if you knew how much has been covered under warranty it was worth it and much of it was picked up and covered by the dealer during services.
