    Angry Removing poles from 130 tub

    Seems my HCPU tub has some poles stuck in it
    Things tried so far:
    -penetrative fluid
    -pipe wrench
    -pipe wrench with long extension (resulted in squashed/twisted poles)
    -drilling hole in top of pole, M8.8 bolt with nut and a tube over the pipe (slide hammer action), resulted in elongated bolt holes and a bent 8.8 bolt
    -hammering it further in to try and break the bond (didn't even move)


    Any other suggestions before I try the below?

    -LAST RESORT would be cutting flush and using a jigsaw to cut a + then tapping the pieces out.
    ^^ Could it really be that simple?

    I take it the poles are hollow and you are referring to the verticals from a set of hood bows (or similar) corroded/rusted into place?

    if so, heat and lots of it followed by cold water down the pipe.... repeat if needed.

    Freeze Release (spray can) or
    Heat the poles then cool them.

    what kind of heat sources do you have available? oxy or similar?

    Ensure you have removed the the lower bolt that holds the pipe in place.
    The top bolt with the plate is obvious but the lower one , from memory is not.

    Thanks guys.
    The canopy wasn't a standard config. the poles were straight vertical and appear to be too big for the holes as they seem to have been shaved by a grinder. There is are no bolts, but I can see where said bolts would go.

    Picked up a can of Loctite Freeze and Release- no worky really froze the crap out of it too.

    They seem to be that stuck that Im considering cutting flat and then just using the hollow as the new hole?? Can anyone see a problem with this, apart from obvious strength? Will be trying the blowtorch and cold water trick first though.
