    2002 Defender 130 diff change

Hello LR owners. I have a 130 with a P38 rear diff which is slowly dying after 110,000 k's. Would like to get back to a Salisbury rear end. To some it may be a waste of time but have to do something with this poor diff. If any one has a coil spring Salisbury rear end with correct ratio that is excess to their requirements please let me know.

Ideally you want to pick up a second hand Salisbury from an earlier 130 as they are built heavier duty than a Salisbury on a 110, although any Salisbury will be an upgrade.

What about the Maxidrive locker which is in the classifieds section. Don't know whether it would bolt straight in but could be another option

Yes it will all fit, a great upgrade. Only mod will be tailshaft length modification, and the front and rear disc rotors will need swapping over to Defender ones as they run vented front, and thicker rear ones.
Will end up only marginally more costly when you figure the cost and instal of a basic salisbury. AND you get twin lockers too

I'm picking up a second hand one from British Off Road this week for around $500. It's cheaper than rebuilding my current Salisbury, which is stuffed - I don't know why but my best guess is that it's been full of water. Parts alone (crown wheel, pinion, bearings, seals) would set me back around $900.
