    Bigger intercooler Def Td5

    Hi all,
Could somebody tell me if the paddocks performance intercooler fits a 99MY Td5 Defender xtream.
I have contacted Paddocks and they can't tell me if it will fit Aust spec factory AC as apparently it's different from the system fitted in the UK as we don't have the extended nose section.
If anyone has or knows someone that has fitted one I'd be very grateful for any advice. Also Intrested in hearing from anyone who has fitted any other brand and their thoughts on it. Mine is chipped, exhaust done and silicon hoses. Just want a bit more power so thinking of putting an intercooler first and then saving for a BAS VNT turbo later..

    Cheers, Nino.

If it is this one - DA4630 | Performance Intercooler - Defender 90/110 Td5 - 1994-2007 - 60mm deep x 300mm high - then I don't know. I might be wrong but I thought the AC on the Td5 was an international fit and only the Tdi and earlier had the Australian unit

The Puma and Td5 take the same intercooler from Allisport and I believe have the same AC core up front.

Give Andrew at AlliSport a yell,

    Performance Intercoolers

Puma & TD5 are the same, the unit from paddocks look the right one, but check with AlliSport.

Remember that simply putting on a bigger inter cooler won't give you something for nothing...

You really need the car re-mapping to be able to take advantage of it, likewise with the VNT.

If suggest you speak to Pete (BAS) and get the inter cooler, VNT and his boost box all at once. As part of that package he'll give you a proper remap with everything setup correctly.

I have a 99 td5 defender with an australian fitted a/c. I purchased a bigger britpart intercooler from an Australian supplier and it didnt fit. Reason being the aust a/c condenser goes between the radiator and the intercooler, where the factory fitted a/c condenser sits in front.
I ended up buying one from ASE turbo and it fitted with no worries.

if your car is early td5 which aus fit ac it will have a flat nose grill, meaning you can only fit a thinner uk 'ac spec' intercooler upgrade.

Hover ever if you have the latter models with the extended nose cone you can run the uk 'non ac spec' intercooler upgrade.

This is in regards to Allisport intercoolers anyway.

There non ac intercooler is 20mm thicker if i remember corectly which is a lot more cooling capacity.

I'm running a non ac allisport intercooler in my 04 90 which has AC and it fits nicely, but I have removed the ac anyway becuase I dont really see the point of fitting a bigger intercooler then blocking it with a dirty AC condensor.

I have an ASE and they just fit. Just a little bit of fitting. The bonnet latch will hit and I had to trim my latch.
