    County clutch slave cylinders

Just replaced my clutch and repair broken pivot post on my LT95 -PITA of a job! Anyway, noticed my slave cylinder was leaking and not being very old just ordered a repair kit- pulled it off and then found the repair kit was for a 1" bore and mine is 7/8"-no joy. Anyway, found the old original one that i replaced months ago and it's a 1" bore but too pitted inside to waste a new kit on. Why would there be 2 different bore sizes for the same gearbox and what difference would it make? Should i go back to a 1" slave cylinder. Were land rovers created to torment us???

Not sure which slave was originally mated with which box, but the larger bore slave will give you a lighter pedal feel than the smaller one (for the same pressure plate etc).

My County had a LT77 when I got it, and the 7/8" slave.
Currently running a LT95 with the 1" slave (and Isuzu turbo pressure plate) which works well together.

Possible that the different gearboxes use different bore, with different lever length on the fork. Hopefully someone familiar with them can comment.

Thanks for info steve- I assume you have isuzu engine? Will the slightly larger bore give less travel though?

Yes, engine is Isuzu 4bd1. Larger bore slave will give less travel at the slave for the same travel at the pedal.

Just re-reading your first post, if the original 1" slave worked OK I'd go with the same size. They are pretty cheap (think I only paid about $30 for my last one) and I personally wouldn't bother putting a seal kit in one unless it has already been stainless sleeved. If you're planning on keeping the vehicle for a while you might want to look into getting your old one sleeved instead of just replacing it with standard.
