It is if they put the centre locating spigot on there, this is not needed on a Japanese 4WDs as they locate on the studs. Land Rovers DO NOT, without the spigot you will get ridiculous amounts of vibration and it will break studs and throw wheels. TRUST ME

if they are alko hubs with a Land rover pattern they just need the holes opening and the correct studs put in....everyone that buys Land rover hubs has to do this unless they buy blanks to have them drilled, its not a big deal...well it wasn't with ours

    a post from another thread

The reason is that the 5/8 studs supplied by ALKO have a larger diameter Knurled area than LR 16MM studs so they flop around in the holes.

The LR 16MM studs are a bit shorter than the ALKO ones so you have to countersink the stud hole a little ( just measure the emerged length to be the same as on the car). Any competent machine shop will do it.

    Yes, exactly right

But for the alloys they also NEED the centre spigot to locate on, as you will notice there is no taper in the holes.

well Im not going to even comment on that simply because I couldn't say whether the defender alloy actually sits on the spigot of the ALKO hub or not because to be honest I thought it was smaller than the defender hub and there for wouldn't fit regardless but like I say I dont know.

We will have to take your word for it unless someone comes and corrects you...

but if this guy has built the set up for this guy then I'm sure he has the means to fix it and it appears he has already offered to fix it for free so happy days

Well until he loses a wheel and you say I told you so

Sorry to have annoyed anyone last night, must have been in a bit of a mood :/

All trailer hubs have a smaller spigot than the LR alloys require, this is why a collar must be machined to locate them properly and fitted to the hub, it is the exact same process as when fitting RRS alloys to a P38a for example.

Sorry about 'talking down' to people, but I happen to know these facts so it was slightly irritating to have someone tell me otherwise.

    Cheers

I just read the thread again, its seems that flaps has decided to go for steelies... something i had missed when i first read it.

In this case the wheels locate on the studs with the tapered nuts, sooo... you don't need the centre spigot unless you are wanting to run alloys on them at some point...

Sorry I got a bit up-myself, should have read it first as i assumed you still wanted the alloys

    Cheers

Pretty sure I don't have a collar on mine and my wheels haven't fallen off and we have done 100s of Ks of corrugations.

But it's something I will check on now
