Led light bar on Defender 110

    Hi all

I had my led light bar fitted the other day and it's absolutely awesome. It's a 240 watt 42" light bar which I got off ebay that comes with a 5 year warranty from a bricks and mortar company in Melbourne.

It throws out a mountain of white light which just blows away both the spotties and high beams of the car.
It performs exceptionally well both off and on road. It makes night driving a whole lot safer and fun.

I put in a 3 way toggle switch. Manual On, off and auto with the high beam. The Auto elec fitted 2 relays. The light is mounted to my roof top light bar and I have the light bar adjusted to throw the light its maximum distance.
The light is thrown at least 60 - 80 metres, which is all you need and provides excellent saturation and flooding to the sides.

On our test drive we were able to clearly spot roos and a wombat which we would have missed with normal lights as it threw the light out wider and brighter.
I have attached a youtube clip. I hope it helps those members who are considering led lighting.

The clip doesn't give the true performance of these lights justice, but you can clearly see how much better they are.

Can't wait to get out on a night drive.
    Gonna organise one asap.

    Hi
Great vid and great to see

I have a 20" bar on its way

Just wanted one for the bull bar to replace over sized over rated spot lights
Seeing this has got me excited and making me think I have done the right thing.

    Cheers

The auto elec has a 20" light bar in is front grill and he reckons its great.
Putting yours on top of the bull bar would be better & keep it out of the mud more.
    You won't be disappointed.
Let us know how it goes.
Don't think you'll need a relay but make sure before putting it in.

Did you want an ebay link for where I bought it?
I bought the bar from britelight auto.

If you do an ebay search under led light bars they have a few for sale.
I'll put a link up when I get home.
The facists at work won't allow you tube or ebay access.
    Totally unacceptable

I'll change that when I'm boss

I will also post a you tube clip of how mine has been wired/set up.

Lift it up and put it under the top hoop mate...

Keeps the spread more useful, and keeps it out of the muck!!!

Yeah see what you mean but a couple of things

As I live in Brisbane can't see how 100 - 150 mm is going to make too much differance and with the 20" bar the mountings it comes with, fit the ARB spot light mountings perfectly.
Where as I would have to make new one for the top. If I was back in the uk you have a point but there I would have to put the on the roof to keep them out of the crap.

Also they are water proof and have very strong screen on it to protect against stones and crap.

The spread is good at the bottom and can tilt don't know how some of the others are.

But I was at the point that the navara were too big and would only light up 10 foot in front of the car as the top bar would stop the lights going back far enough. So I needed something new and at $220 delivered this was a cheaper light than anything else to replace them with.
