Thread: Tyres (again......)

I honestly can't fault mine, got 70000km out of the first set and I usually swap brands to try something different. Explored the Toyo route. Shipping was about $600 from filthy motorsports, online tires also had a decent price.

Ended up with the BFG's again and 20000km in they have been faultless, I drive offroad everyday and have only had 1 flat touch wood. They handle wet roads excellently and are very impressive offroad. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend them.

I used to work in a 4wd shop and have tried out plenty of tires too, so I have a fair base to rate off including Mickey T, Simex, Super Swamper, BFG, Bridgestone, Goodyear etc..

According to my dealer, the wholesalers/importers only have one, and that's somewhere like WA.

I don't doubt the odd dealer may have a few or a set.

I have only done about 2k in my BFG, but they are great so far, never noticed any issues in the wet, the drive is better than my nearly bald GG's, handling is great, cant wait to get them out on the dirt.

for what its worth they also suck in the tea tree mud up these parts
but then again anything short of a tractor dont exactly gain traction in that stuff

mate runs them in 285/75 on his tojo ute and is happy - no significant difference in offroad performance over the bridgy muds on my fender (235s)

His 285s air down nicely at 28ish for the corrugations/rough track/sandy stuff
and havent suffered any punctures yet - over 1 and a half sets of tyres

I don't think you will have trouble with either. I priced up Maxxis and BFG recently. I went with the BFG's and have no complaints at all. Admittedly I have only 10k on the but they went great on a recent desert trip.

I imported mine from TyreRack in the Us. 9 days from first enquirie to landed in the drive way. All my local suppliers said I had to waight 1 to 2 months. The 6 BFG's imported cost the same as 6 Maxxis here. The BFG are a stronger tyre and meant to be superior so I went that road. But you and I both know the Maxxis is a very good true as well. And Coopers in that size, well....

I don't know if they make 255's but my wrangler MTR's are doing well if a bit noisey. Pat

Jason, the beard is looong gone, it started to get miles too itchy.
Of course after it went, most people started saying they liked it and why was it gone

I'd rather send the $ my local tyre blokes way, he really looks after us but he did say that the six weeks could blow out further really easily.
