Thanks for the offer. I just got back from picking one up from a friend to try in the morning.
Then if it works OK it is then time to find one at a decent price.
Anyone know the difference between the britpart/allmake/bearmach/vdo pumps compared to the origonal ones as the price seems to vary from about 70 pounds to 300 pounds out of england

    cheers

Hi Chuck, yes I am a little behind with the pics. It is coming together well though. I'll try and update soon!

Don't go britpart - for anything. When I started my resto I got a huge amount of stuff.. and everything that had the britpart logo on it was utter garbage. The quality is appalling - a lot of stuff didn't even fit properly.

Here's a thought on making your fuel pump last longer: Keep the tank (generally) full rather running a lot at empty.

When near empty, there's not so much volume so the returning fuel heats up in the tank much more, and reduces pump life expectancy.....

im assuming that the battery was disconnected for a length of time.

if so then maybe the computer needs to learn the engine settings again.

there will be a procedure somewhere on how to do it.

on a commodore you connect the battery start car and rev to 2000rpm and hold for 30seconds.

you may need to do something like this but will need to unhook battery and clear memory.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.
I have worked it out, after changing pumps over it still didn't work. Having tested there was 12V at the pump it finally occurred to me to test if the earth was earthing...

It was the earth wire, so everything works now.

    cheers
