Also about to build one for my Td5 110, Same roof as Puma & Tdi too I believe,
Am also mounting AC on the top of the cargo barrier & will be ducting the air forward in the console.
watching with interest.
Hey guys,
Thinking about building a roof console for my puma 110. Just wondering from people who have built their own, how have you attached it to the roof?
Cheers
Jim

I just put in the Terrafirma console, which looks like an exact copy of the Outback console sold locally.
The Outback is about $350, but comes in a grey.
The Terrafirma was under $200 inc FedEX from the UK, but came in black. (109GBP + Freight)
The fitting instructions are all with it, it utilises the mirror mount at the front and you attach a plate to a roof crossmember with self tapers for the back.
I like that it's a low profile and doesn't make you feel cramped, that it's light weight (plastic not wood). I especially like the provision for a rear interior light, it means I no longer need a torch to find things on the floor. The forward interior light is also a little further back, so it shines into the cubby better. It has a single din radio mount and a drop down storage door.
You do have to trim your sun visors to fit it, the kit includes end caps.
What I didn't like, was that the 2 screws supplied for attaching the back section were too short.
Hi Jim,
Below are pictures of the one I made. I removed the original roof lining because it was RS and there's a lot of space at the front between it and the roof; replacing it with 20mm foam and marine carpet glued directly to the roof between the bows. The console is fixed using the four visor screws, 2 M5 nutserts into the roof channel either side over the doors, and a nutsert in the centre roof bow which runs from above the mirror to the rear centre of the sloping part of the roof.

Here's a link to the Terrafirm website for a pic.
You can image seach the p/n for various pics on the web.
TFDRC - Defender Roof Console
p/n TFDRCTC for a truck cab, otherwise TDDRC for a wagon.
I'm liking that a lot rainman... did you consider running a "T" shaped console all the way back to your rear aircon unit? Mine currently has a sheet of ply across the top/front of the windscreen that is due for an upgrade...
Thanks EchiDna. There will be a section running down the centre of the roof from the rear to meet the front console, mainly to act as a duct for the air conditioning, but it will also house some lights and perhaps a couple of other things. Ideas, ideas - so many options. This is what I love most about Series/Defenders - the sky is the limit.
James.
I just installed a small unit for my radio.... just used the center 2 w/screen bolts and then drilled 2 holes through the lining and roof! Works pretty good, obviously used some silastic on the roof to make sure it didn't leak (any more than normal)
