Thread: Sleeping in a Puma- rear seats?

By measuring my Puma there is over 6ft from the rear of the front seats to the tailgate. Fold the rear seats forward and make up a frame that sits in the rear over the top of these seats, should give you room for storage underneath, and a double size matress on top. If you make a modular frame then it should come out with relative ease for when you want all 5 seats. Havent done this yet but its on the list for those quick one or 2 night outings.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but it will have to wait a little while until my youngest child gets his license and by then I might have updated to a 2013 or 2014 Puma

My thoughts are to remove the rear seats & build a light weight frame with a double mattress just below window height with drawers & stowage area underneath and to integrate some other camping equipment. Maybe some access hatches from the side of the vehicle if this can be done without compromising strength. A foxwing awning would finish it off. Mattress to be removed when taking a tent. Preserving off road capability is critical and may prevent some of these ideas from happening or may result in a design that can be easily removed from the car.
