    Back door hinges

    I'm rebuilding the rear door hinges on the Tdi as the springs and balls are stuffed. Everything cleaned and ready to put back together with shiny new bits.

    So what's the best thing to lubricate the hinges with?

    I don't know about 'best' - I just use engine oil! It is a fairly non-critical environment. The catch with any oil or even grease is that it collects dust. Probably ideal would be something like drilube, but this requires disassembly of the hinges to relubricate.

    I thought of drilube too and the problem of relubricating was rather discouraging.

    I'm considering using a combination of graphite powder and fish oil (or lanotec). I did this when I replaced the pins on the windscreen vents and it's worked a treat so far.

    Bicycle chain teflon lube? Triflo or similar. It doesn't stay sticky and can be sprayed or dripped on to relubricate.
    Note... I haven't tried it...
