    DOOR HINGES

    HI ALL
    My 2001 Defender ,the front door hinges have become loose not from the panel but the actual joint , I cant believe this has happened does any one out there now how to fix this problem ???

    Up and down play in the hinge, hangs low when open, need to lift to shut door? They do get tired...

    You can get a hinge pin replacement kit or if rusty get a new set painted. I think the latest hinges are slightly improved over 2001 type.

    actually not sure on hinge pin kit.. maybe only for back door...

    But you could try and fix it
    -> Greasable, rebuildable Defender hinges

    you can replace the whole hinge assembly, do a seach on ebay uk, but make sure you order for the correct side

    I was gonna be smart and say tighten it , but you mean the actual joint between the two moving cast pieces, eh?! Ok, swap the car for a 96 110 with good hinges - I've got one that'll suit your needs
    redrovertdi - aren't the hinges the same on both sides???

    No. The pivot pin is at an angle to the mounting surface (to accommodate the fat that the two mounting surfaces are not in the same plane), and the sense is opposite between the sides.
